Artist/Producer, Ableton Certified Trainer and Berklee College of Music Electronic Production and Design professor Dan Freeman will be teaching an 5 session, 30 hour intensive course on Music Production with Ableton Live 12 from November 17 – December 14, 2024. The course will meet weekly from 12 – 5 at Park Slope’s ShapeShifter Lab (837 Union St.) and is for up to 15 students ages 15 and up who would like to learn the basics of electronic music production using Ableton Live or expand their knowledge of the program. . It is based on the courses that Dan designed for NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and The Juilliard School.
The course is designed for students who want to understand the workflow of producing music on a laptop. At the end of the week, all students will have produced a basic track with Live and have learned how this powerful laptop studio can be used to create and produce music.
Students will be required to bring their own laptops. We will be using a free trial version of Ableton Live Suite and students will be able to purchase Ableton Live at approximately 40 percent off with a student discount.
