Rafael Araujo

DJ, Producer, Founder and DIrector of AIMEC (Brazil)

Rafael Araujo is a DJ, producer, educator and a founder and CEO of South America’s largest DJ/Electronic music academy: AIMEC. (Academia Internacional de Musica Eletronica). A native of the city of Curitiba in Brazil’s southern state of Parana, Rafael started his career as a DJ in the late 90’s and has played clubs throughout Europe, the United States and South America including the Rex Club in Paris, Bahrein Club in Buenos Aires, Warung Club, Green Valley and D-Edge Club in Brazil, The Fridge in London, and the Avalon Club and Playhouse in Los Angeles. Also has also played festivals like Tribaltech (Curitiba – Brazil), Antiworld (London – UK) and Lightning In a Bottle (California – USA).

As a music producer, Rafael has worked under various names and experimented with different styles of music including Hip Hop, experimental, breaks, Brazilian, house, tech house and techno. He has released hundreds of tracks under the aliases of Nylon, Cupcake Project and as Rafael Araujo on Vinyl, CDs and Digital. He has also run 2 labels: BR909 Records (vinyl) and Eletrodomésticos Records (Digital). His tracks and remixes have been played by top DJs, listed in Mixmag magazine and have received airplay on BBC Radio One. His current project is CPCK, a house project incorporating funk grooves and Brazilian rhythms.

In 2004, Rafael and several other DJ/producers in Curitiba launched AIMEC, the Academia Internacional de Musica Eletronica. AIMEC was one of the first Ableton Certified Training Centers in South America and now operates in 6 cities throughout Brazil. It has graduated thousands of aspiring producers and DJs and has been recognized for excellence in education at the 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Rio Music Conference.

Rafael continues to teach and give workshops including courses on DJing and production, Promotion and business for electronic musicians, incorporating Brazilian rhythms into electronic music and how to successfully build electronic music school.
