Hello everyone: We’re really excited to get our blog up and running. This blog will be a multilingual blog (Spanish and Portuguese) and it will focus on the electronic music scenes of our home city (NYC) and the electronic scenes of Latin America and the Caribbean. We’ll be writing on what’s happening in Sao Paulo, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Bogota, Mexico City, Lima, etc. etc. Plus we’ll have tutorials by our faculty/presenters and from our partners.
The goal of the Brooklyn Digital Conservatory is to build a community and link the digital music community of NYC with our brother and sister artists outside of the U.S how to weight loss. Latin America is a natural one for me personally because of my background – my mother is Nicaraguan and I still have a huge family there. Spanish is my mother tongue. I’m also lucky to have spent time in Brazil and to have gotten to know that incredible culture and language.
The Brooklyn Digital Conservatory will be running workshops in the next several months in Brazil and Chile and we’ll be working with our local partners as well as companies and schools like Dubspot International, izoTope, Ableton, Splice. I personally am looking forward to hearing the great electronic music that is being made in Latin America and hopefully sparking some collaborations with producers/artists here in NYC. – DF
